The 316 stainless steel globe valve is a type of isolation valve manufactured from stainless steel, installed via internal threaded connections. This product features a compact structure, elegant appearance, excellent performance, and ease of use. The stainless steel globe valve operates by the closure member (disc) moving linearly along the seat centerline. The variation of the seat port opening is directly proportional to the disc travel. Due to the relatively short opening/closing stroke of the valve stem and its reliable shut-off capability, coupled with the proportional relationship between port opening and disc travel, this valve type is well-suited for flow regulation. Therefore, it is very suitable for use in shut-off, regulation, and throttling applications.
Technical Parameters
- Valve Body Material: Stainless Steel(including 304 and 316 stainless steel globe valve grades)
- Connection Size: DN15-DN50 (Common sizes include the 1 2 stainless steel globe valve (DN15) and the 1 inch stainless steel globe valve (DN25))
- Nominal Pressure: 1.6 MPa
- Applicable Medium: Water
- Medium Temperature: 0~80℃

Product Application
Stainless steel globe valves are widely used in municipal facilities, building services, and water supply engineering for water supply and drainage systems where high water quality is required. Common applications include both smaller lines using a 1 2 stainless steel globe valve and main supply branches where a 1 inch stainless steel globe valve is often specified. Due to the relatively short valve stem stroke and reliable shut-off action, this valve is ideal for isolating, regulating, and throttling media.
Product Features
Compact size, simple structure.
Good sealing performance, long service life.
Short working stroke, fast opening/closing time.
Installation Instructions
Before installation, clean oil, dirt, and debris from the valve threads and flow passage. Inspect sealing faces and threads for scratches or deformation. Replace if damaged to avoid compromising sealing. This applies to all models, from a 1 2 stainless steel globe valve to larger diameters.
The medium flow direction must match the arrow marked on the valve body. Reverse installation is not allowed as it reduces sealing performance and increases operating torque.
During hoisting, do not use the handwheel as the lifting point to avoid bending the valve stem.
The valve can be installed horizontally or vertically, but the handwheel must never face downwards. Ensure sufficient clearance for handwheel operation for future use and maintenance.
Tighten threads with moderate force. Appropriate sealant tape can be used to enhance sealing and prevent leaks at threaded connections, while avoiding excessive force that could damage threads.
The installation environment should be away from areas of strong vibration to prevent thread loosening and seal failure due to long-term vibration.
Operation Instructions
1. For manual operation, rotate the handwheel clockwise to close and counterclockwise to open. The low-friction fit between the stem and packing allows for light operation. whether on a standard model or a 316 stainless steel globe valve.
2. The valve has a short opening/closing travel. Avoid over-tightening the handwheel. Resistance indicates the valve is fully open or closed. Forcing operation may damage the stem or sealing face.
3. The flow can be roughly regulated by the degree of handwheel rotation. However, avoid keeping the valve in a partially open/closed state for extended periods to prevent wear on the sealing faces from prolonged erosion.
Maintenance and Care
Regularly check the valve seal. If medium leakage occurs, first inspect the packing for aging and replace promptly if needed.
01
After prolonged use, apply a small amount of anti-rust lubricant to the valve stem threads to reduce friction during operation and extend component life. This maintenance is important for all sizes, including the frequently used 1 inch stainless steel globe valve.
02
If the valve is out of service for a long time, drain any residual medium, clean surface stains, spray with anti-rust oil, and store in a dry, ventilated place to prevent corrosion from humidity.
03
Periodically inspect the valve body surface. Address any scratches or corrosion spots promptly to prevent damage from spreading and affecting body strength. This is especially crucial for maintaining the integrity of a 316 stainless steel globe valve.

Troubleshooting
1. Internal Leakage
|
Causes |
Solution |
|
Debris on disc/seat sealing faces |
Dismantle the valve. Flush sealing faces with kerosene or a dedicated cleaner to remove particulate debris. Wipe dry with a clean cloth before reassembly. |
|
Worn/scratched sealing faces |
For minor wear/scratches, use suitable lapping paste and tools to lap and restore surface finish. For severe damage, replace the stainless steel disc and seat assembly with the same specifications. |
|
Valve not closing fully |
Check handwheel operation for smoothness. Gently cycle the handwheel to confirm travel. Address any stem sticking. If stem thread wear causes abnormal travel, replace the 304 stainless steel valve stem. |
2. External Leakage
|
Causes |
Solution |
|
Stuffing box leakage |
First, try tightening the gland nuts evenly. If leakage persists, the packing is likely aged/worn. Dismantle the gland and replace with new, suitable packing, ensuring it is filled evenly and tightly. |
|
Leakage at body/bonnet connection |
Inspect the gasket at the connection. Replace if damaged/deformed. If bolts are loose, tighten them symmetrically and evenly with a wrench, avoiding excessive force that could damage the flange face or gasket. |
|
Threaded connection leakage |
Check threads for damage and sealant tape for aging. Re-wrap with suitable tape and tighten according to specifications. If threads are severely damaged, replace the valve or repair the threads. |
3. Operation Abnormalities
|
Causes |
Solution |
|
Sticking valve stem |
First, apply a few drops of rust-penetrating lubricant to the top of the stem. Wait 10-15 minutes, then gently rotate the handwheel. If ineffective, dismantle the valve. Clean rust and dirt from the stem and stuffing box. Check for stem bending. Minor bends can be straightened; severe bends require replacement with a 304 stainless steel stem. Apply anti-rust lubricant to stem threads during reassembly. |
|
Disc stuck to seat |
If caused by crystalline deposits or debris, first try gently alternating handwheel rotation to loosen parts with slight force. Do not use excessive force. If ineffective, dismantle the valve. Clean foreign matter from between the disc and seat. If parts are adhered, soak in cleaner before separating. Inspect sealing faces for damage before reassembly. |
|
Handwheel drive failure |
Check the connection between the handwheel and valve stem. Tighten the fastening nut if loose. If internal handwheel teeth are worn causing slippage, replace the handwheel with the same model to ensure secure drive engagement. |
